Deco has many great ideas to make your wedding a green event while sticking to your budget:
- Use china, silver, and glass instead of disposable. This is the best way to reduce the waste created from a catered party. You will spend a few extra dollars per guest, but you are eliminating a ton of waste. This also adds a bit more style to your party.
- If you wish to use disposable, recycle as much of the waste as possible. We can help coordinate this for you.
- Select your menu from food items that are in season and can be purchased locally or regionally.
- Use eco-friendly decor. Choose live plants or flowers for your centerpieces that guests can take home with them at the end of the night. A beautiful plant or blooming orchid makes a stunning and elegantly simple centerpiece.
- Keep the simple decor. Simplicity is sleek and elegant without being fussy. Buffet or food station decor that is minimal yet beautiful lets you and your guests focus on the food.
- Use in-season flowers. Talk to your florist about using flowers that are in season and do not have to be purchased from overseas.
- Request all leftover food be donated to a charity at the end of the party. This not only prevents waste, but helps our community out at the same time. Double bonus!
- Try to borrow certain items from your family and friends for your wedding day. If your friend had a cute card box on their gift table, ask if you can use it. They will be honored you asked and you will be taking another step towards less waste.
